Nicholas Edward Williams Host of the popular roots music history podcast American Songcatcher. Nic is a multi-instrumentalist and storyteller who is dedicated to "playing it forward" by preserving the songs and styles that have shaped our country: ragtime, Piedmont blues, traditional folk, old time and early country. A Seattle-born, Southern-based troubadour who blends American roots, folk, and blues into a sound that’s all his own. His affinity for songwriting also grew and matured from an unfeigned love for storytellers like John Prine, Paul Simon and Jim Croce.
Formerly known as Whetherman, Williams has released eight acclaimed albums and shared stages with legends like Taj Mahal and The Wood Brothers. Now performing under his own name, he brings a fresh, soulful energy to traditional American music—mixing humor, honesty, and vivid storytelling into every show.
